Easter At The Farm (A Make-up)

Back in March we had planned to spend Easter down at the farm with the kids' Papaw and Grandma.  All was going well, but then Ryder got very sick and we ended up in the hospital... the rest is history.  it was very disappointing, especially for Savannah... she was so looking forward to a weekend at the farm.  Once everyone had recovered and we were all healthy we headed down to the farm for a make-up session.  So much fun!  Ryder was in heaven.  Everything about the farm made him smile.  He loved spending every minute of the day outside playing in the dirt and riding the four wheeler.  Savannah was also very happy to be down there.  She kept grandma pretty busy... gardening, crafting, taking walks... all the important stuff.

The big hit and huge surprise of the weekend... baby ducks!!  They bought the ducks for the kids as an Easter gift, so they had grown a bit by the time that we made it down there to see them.  They were still super cute though.  Both the kids loved feeding them and watching them swim around.

So for the first time in Ryder's year and a half of living he was introduced to a four wheeler.  It was literally LOVE at first sight.  Daddy pulled up on that thing and Ryder's eyes got so big... he immediately wanted to get on and then NEVER wanted to get off.

How to drive a four wheeler 101, taught by her daddy.

The look on her face is priceless.  Little girl is growing up.

Poor little guy trying to catch up to daddy and sissy.  His little bitty four wheeler just doesn't compare to the real thing.

No Easter make up would be complete without confetti eggs.  The kids went crazy cracking those things all over the porch at the farm.  Ryder thought it was so so so funny.  He would laugh so hard every time one cracked open and confetti spilled out.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Savannah's softball season is just getting underway.  This is her first year moving up from t-ball and her first year playing actual softball on an all girl team.  The skill level that some of the girls on her team are at is insane.  Savannah has a lot of catching up to do.  I wish we would have moved her to the softball association a lot sooner.  So now, any chance we get we are needing to use it for practicing.  The good part is that Savannah likes to practice.  She begs us to go out back and work with her.  I am sure by the end of the season we are going to see a lot of improvement in Savannah's skills.

These pictures are from Easter afternoon.  I love that she was practicing in her Easter dress.  I say it all the time... she is the girliest tomboy.

Eric had to go get a face guard to put on Savannah's helmet.  Since most the girls out there playing are pitching for the first time, it can get a little dangerous.  Their pitches are all over the place.

Insta-Friday

This week was so much better than last week.  Even though we were all feeling sick, (thanks to Ryder sharing the love) we had a very good week.  Ryder is just about at 100%.  It is so great to have our happy little guy back.

My favorite picture from Easter.  My sweet little bunnies trying on their masks that the Easter bunny brought them.  I love that Ryder is looking at his big sis.  He loves her so much and will do anything that she is doing.

Savannah and her Bella.  Savannah tells me all the time how she wishes that Bella was her sister.

This is what happens when a bunch of Texans get their hands on the kids' sidewalk chalk.

Savannah got a special surprise this week from Uncle Ry Ry.  He got her a subscription to Disney Princess magazine.  Savannah was so so excited!  She has already done some of the activities inside and found crafts for us to do together.

Stopped for a Starbucks this week and to my surprise, the car in front of me paid for my drink.  It was a much needed pick me up to a rainy blah day.

No joke, he drives his cars around the living room all day.  from couch to couch in circles.

Easter At Home

Needless to say, our Easter did not go anything like we had planned.  We had been planning for weeks to attend a big Easter dinner and egg hunt at Eric's cousin's house.  Then Ryder went into the hospital and well, those plans went adios.  The doctor made it very clear to us that we needed to limit Ryder's contact with people... one, because he may be contagious and two, because if Ryder was to catch anything from someone else that would be bad news for him.  So we decided that we would throw together a last minute Easter gathering at our house.  And by gathering, I mean us and our friends Scott, Michelle, and their baby Bella.  The reason we were even allowed to invite them was because they had already been exposed to Ryder's nastiness last week and they kept Savannah for us while we were in the hospital, so if they are going to catch Ryder's germs, it has probably already happened.  We bought eggs and candy and stuff to grill and that was that.  I quickly forgot about the big Easter that we were missing and was very happy with our small Easter celebration.  It was so beautiful out, so relaxing... very happy with how our day turned out.

Savannah was all business when it came to hunting eggs.  We tried to hide some of them in clever spots for her.  I had to remind her before the hunt started that the eggs that were right in the open were for the babies and she should go past those and leave them for the little ones.

She got creative at getting to the high eggs.  Smart girl got a stick and started knocking them down.

Last year Ryder was too little to hunt eggs, so this was his first time getting to do this.  He walked out to the yard and knew what to do right away.  He took his sweet time walking all over the yard and picking up eggs for his basket.

This picture cracks me up... the three of them squeezed into Savannah's car for a ride around the yard.  There is no way that was comfortable for any of them... super tight in there.
