This last week was a long one. In anticipation of our annual SD trip I have been running around like crazy trying to get stuff together and situated. On top of that Savannah's allergies have started to act up, which has caused her asthma to kick in, which has led to more than a few sleepless nights this past week. To make matters worse, Savannah had her fist appointment with the dermatologist for her warts this week. Savannah has a few warts that have been on her hands forever... seriously, since as close to day one as it gets. Her pediatrician would not treat them until after she turned 3. So finally we are going to have these things taken care of. I was under the impression that taking care of these warts would be fairly simple... we go see the specialist, he/she burns/freezes them off, Savannah and her pretty hands live happily ever after. Yeah, not so much. We did see the specialist, he did put a dab of medicine on each wart... but that's not the end of it. Actually, it's just the beginning. Apparently this is a process... a long, nasty, bloody process. The medicine he put on her causes the warts to blister and then eventually burst so that the healing and prevention process can begin. Yuck, yuck, yuck. These things are turning purple and blood is seeping out the edges of her surgical tape. The good thing is that none of this has been painful for her... the bad news is that she is freaked out by the blood. Hopefully she responds well to the medicine and these dang warts go away. We go back for another treatment in a week... and then continue the treatments once every 3-4 weeks after that.
Day 1: right after the appointment... surgical tape covering warts and medicine.
Day 2: The wart on her right hand had already bursted and wouldn't stop bleeding. The other two on the left hand are starting to blister.
Friday morning we took a break from planning, sewing, cleaning, packing, etc. to go see Shrek the Final Chapter. Savannah loves the Shrek movies... so much so that her 2nd birthday was Shrek themed. Since the first preview of the new movie she has been so excited to go see it. She even dressed the part. Savannah wore her Fiona hat. She actually went back and forth between that hat and some Shrek ears I had leftover from her 2nd birthday.
Wednesday Savannah had a playdate with a little boy on her soccer team. We met him and his mother at the park for a picnic. One of the best things that has come out of Savannah playing soccer is that she (and I) have made some friends. There are a few kids that Savannah just loves to play with. The up side for me is that I like the parents... so this is turning out to be a win win situation. I did not get any good pictures of her and her friend playing together... but I did get a couple cute ones of her swinging on the "big person" swings.
