The Gardens & Fro Yo

Savannah woke up this morning and immediately wanted to go play outside. Unfortunately, the backyard is flooded (shocker) and super duper muddy so I had to tell her no. Which was a total shame because it was absolutely beautiful today. Today is what I would call an "San Diego Day"... not too hot, not chilly... perfect. So I decided that since we couldn't play outside at our house that I would take Savannah somewhere she could run around and play. Normally I would have just taken her to the park, but I was not feeling that at all. Instead I decided to take her to the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. We go there often because it is so beautiful, never really crowded during the day, and totally free. We spent a good few hours out there running around and checking out all the "secret paths" (that is what Savannah calls all the various walk ways). There was almost nobody there so we were free to run wild. We played tag for a bit, spent a lot of time looking at all the flowers and explaining to Savannah why we can not pick them, and then sat by the pond and watched the turtles climb in and out. This was Savannah's favorite part of the day. She loved the turtles... she kept begging me to let her touch them. She managed to get pretty close to the turtles without scaring them away. No joke, she sat on her little rock and talked to the turtles for a good 30 minutes. Then when I told her it was time to leave she blew kisses and said goodbye to all her "turtle friends".

The Forehead Headband
So, you might have noticed in the above photos that Savannah was wearing her headband in an odd fashion. This morning I did her hair and put the headband on the way it typically goes and then sat her down with some toons so I could get ready. While I was dressing Savannah came into the room looking completely different. She had taken down her pony tail, brushed her own hair, and put the headband back in a new way. I laughed and asked her that she please put it on right. She looked at me very seriously and said, "Mom, this is right. I like it".... really, this is starting already?!?! Not wanting to be one of those parents that does not allow their kid to express themselves I let it go. I'm glad I did... because honestly, after a seeing the headband worn like that for a bit I started to like (even maybe love) how it looked on her. I could never have pulled it off, but Savannah Banana rocked it. So tonight I did a little research about celebs wearing their headbands like this. Turns out Savannah knew what she was talking about... this style is quite popular with some of the celebs out there. Apparently this look is called the Forehead Headband. Who knew...?? I'll tell you who, Paris and Savannah.

After the Botanical Gardens Savannah and I went and tried out this fro yo (frozen yogurt) place that was recommended to me. It is called Pure Bliss.... let me tell you, it was awesome! It is serve yourself and then you are charged per ounce so it is actually quite inexpensive. Savannah loved hers. She had chocolate yogurt topped with gummy bears, rainbow sprinkles, and M&Ms.
