Soccer season is officially underway. Savannah and her team, the Hot Shots, had their first game this weekend. Let me start off by saying that 3 and 4 year olds playing soccer is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever watched. I laughed so hard the entire game. Savannah did surprisingly well. When I say well, I don't mean she scored a goal or dribbled a ball or anything crazy like that. I mean that she kept up with the pack of kids, played three out of the four quarters without complaining or whining, and she even got to do one kick-off. The best part, she had a huge smile on her face the whole time she was out there. I was very happy with how she did... at practices she would stop and pick grass and play with her hair or adjust her socks twenty times a minute. So the fact that there were very few of these moments during the game is a huge accomplishment. It's all about "baby steps", small reasonable goals... baby steps to kick the ball, baby steps to dribble the ball, baby steps to score a goal.
