We have had non-stop rain since Friday. Gloomy, nasty, lay on the couch all weekend weather. Normally I would welcome a relaxing weekend of rain. However, this past weekend Savannah and I had a walk to go to so the rain was a bummer. The walk that Savannah and I signed up for was the American Heart Association "Heart Walk". The reason we chose to do this walk was because Savannah has a cousin named Harrison who has been fighting congenital heart defects since the day he was born. He is only 3 years old and has had several heart surgeries. If you want to read more about Harrison or perhaps make a donation in his name, click on this American Heart Association link. Despite all the rain Savannah and I really had a good time at the walk. Savannah really did not mind being soaking wet... she actually thought it was fun. Once the walk was over they had bounce houses and face painting for the kids. I would say that 80% of the walker bailed right after the walk ended... Savannah and I stuck around in the pouring rain to play for a bit. At one point Savannah slipped and fell in the mud; it was pretty funny.
Other than getting out Saturday for a bit, most of our rainy day time has been spent in the house trying to figure out new activities to entertain Savannah. Yesterday Savannah was starting to get antsy and a tad bored of the inside of this house so I threw out the idea of building a tent in her room. She immediately started running to her room and yelling, "come on Mom". I grabbed a sheet and tied it in various places to make a pretty pitiful looking tent. I guess it was good enough for Savannah because she has been playing in it ever since. She even slept in it for nap and bedtime yesterday. Hopefully the rain stops soon... I am not sure how many more tricks I have up my sleeve.
