"Two mommies can get married, right?"

Yes, my little 2 year old asked me that question. The other day she was in the living room playing Barbies. She had them all laid out in a row and was holding in one of her hands her bride Barbie. I could tell she was looking for something or confused, but I wasn't sure why. A few minutes later she said, "Mommy, where is the daddy Barbie? My Barbie is getting married and there's no daddy." I tried to explain to her that she did not have any Ken dolls. Before I could finish explaining she interrupted me with, "Two mommies can get married, right?".... Uh-oh. Before I knew it the two Barbies were married and kissing. There is no way I could have even tried to explain what she had just done to her, so instead I laughed.... and ran out to the store to get her a "daddy Barbie". In the words of Seinfeld, "Not that there's anything wrong with that"... I just thought that maybe it was time to throw a Ken doll or two into the mix.

P.S. G-ma, I know you wanted to buy her the ken dolls, sorry. Technically though, you did... I used some of the gift card that you got Savannah for her birthday. Love you!
