There is nothing better than an afternoon at the ballpark. To make it even better, Jake Peavy pitched a complete game and led the Padres to a win. I know I am probably a little bias, but I really do believe that Petco Park is the coolest ballpark ever. There are a lot of creative and unique aspects to the park. One of the most popular parts of Petco is the Beach area. Out in center field they built a big sand box on the other side of the outfield fence. There are bleacher style seats behind the sand area. It is really cool to sit level with the field and to have only a chain link fence separate you from the outfielders. Plus, the sand is very entertaining for the kids. Savannah played the whole game... which meant that I got to watch the whole game. I really love how family friendly Petco Park is. I have been to three different ballparks with her and Petco is by far the kid friendliest. Most ballparks have a "kid zone"... the downfall I find is that they are in locations that make it hard to also watch the game. So while kids play the parents miss the game. Petco has the typical "kid zone", but then they also have the Park in the Park, a mini baseball field for kids, and the beach area... you can see the game (with a good view actually) from all of these locations. I have decided that the MLB should pay for me and Savannah to travel to all of the ballparks and have me rate who is the family friendliest. Seriously... some parks are not so much. Minute Maid would not let me fold up the stroller and put it under my seat. They made me walk all the way to guest relations and check it. Talk about an inconvenience. The Ballpark in Arlington and Petco both let you fold up your strollers. These little things really do matter. Somebody please pass the word on to the MLB execs... Savannah and I are perfect for that job!
