Big Game Under The Lights

Instead of a Saturday t-ball game this weekend, Savannah's team got to play a night game under the lights.  Every season they try to schedule one night game for the kids.  I'm not sure why, but these kids get pretty excited about the lights being on.  It's like they're in the big leagues.  

Insta-Friday

It has been a good week.  Lots of school stuff, lots of Halloween costume making, and lots of family time (Eric has been home!).  Believe it or not, he is going to be in town next week also... I just might have time to get some things done around here.

Poor sweet Savannah had to have her blood drawn last Friday.  She was really scared, but still really brave.  She insisted that bringing her BooRoo would help.  Turns out she was right... she held onto him super tight and let the lady draw her blood.

T-ball Craziness

You wouldn't know it (because I have really sucked at the posting of pictures this season), but Savannah is (and has been for several weeks now) playing both t-ball and soccer.  The last couple of weekends Eric has been out of town, so I have had to handle our crazy Saturday schedule on my own.  Not an easy task.  This season her soccer and t-ball games have been back to back pretty much every weekend, so we are always rushing from one field to the other, quickly changing uniforms, and trying to not forget the baby along the way.  At her most recent t-ball game our friend Michelle brought her little girl, Bella... yeah, that was a handful.  Bella and Ryder were all over the place.  Michelle was chasing the two of them all over the place the entire game.  It did free me up to finally get some pictures taken of Savannah t-balling it up.  Hopefully next week I can get some pictures of her during her soccer game.  Girl has been doing really well at soccer here recently.

Insta-Friday

Craziness is now upon us... a pretty darn close to walking full time baby/toddler and soccer and t-ball now in full swing.  As hectic as it gets at times, I really do love having a full schedule.

Savannah has returned to the Hot Shots for another season.  She was beyond thrilled to now have two of her cousins on the team with her.  My little Marley girl with her cuz Mitchell, and cuz Weaver.

Ryder LOVES the swings at the park where Savannah practices.  Boy has no fear and wants to be pushed higher and higher.

Ryder wants everything to do with Savannah's room and Savannah's toys.  He thinks they are a thousand times cooler than his own room and his own toys.  He is obsessed with her pink stroller.  He pushes his monkey all over the house.

Aaaaannnnnd, when she's not at soccer practice, she is at T-ball practice.  Only girl again.  

Party Time, Cubbies Style

Last night Savannah had her team party for t-ball.  It was kind of fun having it at the park... the kids got to play and hit a pinata and we didn't have to worry about keeping the kids quiet or from running all over the place.  They were allowed to run free and be kids.  Pizza, candy, and most importantly, trophies!  Score!  Savannah has already put her trophy up on her shelf in her room.  Love my little t-baller... next season can't come quick enough.

After going through the entire batting order and letting siblings have a swing at the pinata, we let the coach step in a bust it open.  The kids got a kick out of watching him try to hit it.  Once he finally made contact and candy started flying out they went nuts.  Savannah's face in the second picture is priceless.  She was so excited and shocked when coach hit it.

Sigh.  Why does she look so grown up in this picture.  My baby girl is getting so big.  If she knew I just used the word baby in front of girl, she would have quickly corrected me.  "Mom, I am not a baby!  I am a BIG girl!".

The Cubs (plus one little sister).  It really was a great season... all of these kids worked and played so well together.  I loved the coach and the parents... I'm pretty sure that we will be sticking with this team next season.

SA-WINGING Savannah

Second game of the season for t-ball and we already had picture day to deal with. Picture day is always craziness... people are late, kids are crying, it's hot. So I guess it might have been a blessing in disguise to get it over with early (we still have soccer pictures to deal with in a couple of weeks). Savannah's team actually behaved pretty well during the whole process. They were all so eager to get pictures over with and get out on the field. Her team had another good game this past week. They are starting to get the hang of fielding the ball and getting outs. Savannah played at the pitcher position this game, so she had several opportunities to get the ball and throw someone out. A few times she wasn't paying attention and the ball rolled right by her, and other times she was right on top of the ball and threw perfectly to first. She had several good hits... great swing, better than most of the boys out there playing with her. We need to get her to run faster though. At one point she was thrown out running from first to second... she did not like that. It gave me a chance to explain to her that had she ran a little faster, she probably wouldn't have been out. Getting thrown out sucks, so hopefully that was the little push she needed.

A Full Spring Schedule

Typically when Spring rolls around we sign Savannah up for soccer... no questions asked. This year we were torn between t-ball and soccer. Whenever we asked her to tell us which one she wanted to play, she could never give us an answer. She wanted to do both. I wasn't sure if that was even possible, but after a few phone calls, it turns out she didn't have to choose. So, long story short... Savannah is playing both soccer and t-ball. She is on the same soccer team she has been for the last two years, the Hot Shots. This year for t-ball she is playing on the Cubs. So far I am pretty impressed with her team and her coach. I think that she is going to come away from this t-ball season knowing a lot about the game and hopefully with noticeable improvements to how she plays. This past Saturday was the first game day (for both sports) of the season. I was a little worried about how it was going to go, having back to back games and lugging around a baby. Luckily, both Savannah and Ryder handled our morning spent out at the fields very well. If every Saturday goes this well (I'm not fooling myself, I am sure there will be one or two that are chaotic), then I will be a happy mommy.

Soccer breakdown... Savannah did alright. Still timid, still doesn't understand (or just won't) take the ball from other kids. There were a couple times where she managed to get control of the ball and dribble in the direction of the goal. I was far more happy with the fact that she got knocked down pretty hard by one of the boys on the other team and she just got right back up and kept running. I thought for sure she was going to come off the field crying... turns out Savannah is a lot tougher than one might think.

T-ball breakdown... She got a hit (first swing) each time she came up to bat. She only got to field a few balls and could use some improvement on her throwing. She gets it though... you can tell that the skill is there and with the right coaching and practice she really could do well. Most importantly, she had fun! She had a smile on her face the whole time. Whenever she would catch mine or Eric's eye, she would give us a thumbs up and a huge smile.
