I'm pretty sure if you ask Savannah which items on our bucket list are her favorites she would for sure be saying picnic in the park (#1) and go to a museum (#12). These were two of the activities that she added herself, and in my opinion, two that she seemed to really really enjoy. She made our sandwiches and packed our lunch for the picnic. The only thing that could have made the picnic better (according to Savannah) was if we had used a real picnic basket instead of a plastic grocery bag. Sorry kid, that's all I had. Maybe next time. I think the fact that we were at one of the most beautiful parks ever (Balboa Park) took her mind right off the basket situation. She talked nonstop about the old mission buildings and all the beautiful trees and flowers. Our picnic location was beautiful and shaded. Both kids sat still and ate all their lunch (typically unheard of).
Once we were done eating lunch we packed up and headed over to the big fountain to throw coins and take some pictures. They had absolutely no interest in sitting still for the camera, though. Ryder was pulling at his sister, Savannah was begging me to giver her pennies to throw... not one happy smiling picture was taken. It keeps getting harder and harder to get a good picture of the two of them together.
I eventually gave up on fountain pictures and let Savannah throw her change and make her wishes. When she was done with that we walked over to the Natural History Museum. This was my favorite part of the day. Ryder sat in his stroller just chilling and pointing at everything... he didn't fuss one time. I was able to enjoy everything with Savannah without having to stop to take care of Ryder. So nice. Savannah is at such a great age for museums. She wants to learn about everything she sees and isn't afraid to ask questions or make guesses about things. It really was fun talking about dinosaurs and earthquakes and all that stuff with her. There is nothing better than seeing your kid get so excited about learning something new.
Two more Xed out... two more weeks in SD to go. I'm thinking some of these might end up being done once we get back to Texas. How fun would it be to have a huge water balloon fight with all her cousins. Hmm, maybe that can be arranged.
