An Afternoon Tea Party

Savannah's 5th birthday was this past weekend... lots and lots of fun and activities went on. Her birthday weekend was packed full, to say the least. On Saturday we had Savannah's party. This party has been planned and much anticipated for well over a year. We hosted a big girl tea and dress up party at this boutique called Chelsea's Tea Room. I had wanted to have her birthday there for the last two years, but they actually have an age requirement for the little girl guests. I now totally understand why... the girls get glass tea pots and there is a lot of sitting and listening and talk about manners. Things that most younger toddler types would not sit still and pay attention to. I have zero complaints about the party... it lived up to all the hype, for sure. Savannah and all the other little girls had a great time. I even had a good time (much better than the Chuck E Cheese nonsense I had to sit through last year). Who doesn't love a good tea party?!

Step one: Make-up and nails! What I liked most about this place was how toned down and innocent the make-up and such was. I am not a fan of make-up on little girls, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that in this case, less was more.

Step two: Dressing up. There was a little room full of several different dress options for the girls. They each got to choose the one they liked best, plus pick out some necklaces to match.

Step three: The crowning ceremony and runway show. Each girl was crowned a princess and then got to strut their stuff on the runway. The finale, was of course the crowning of the birthday princess. Savannah calls this the "fashion show" part of her party, and will also tell you that it was her favorite part of the day.

Step four: Tea time. Savannah's second favorite part. The girls loved having tiny little tea pots full of their own personal tea (juice). They were then served snacks on fancy tiered tea trays.

Step five: Story time. The hostess read the girls a story about manners and how one should act when attending a tea party with the queen.

Step six: Birthday cake (which the tea place provided, score!). Even better, it actually was really yummy.

Step seven: Take a picture with mommy. Can't you tell how thrilled she was to take a tiny break from the fun to take a picture with me. Love that little girl.

Step eight: A parade through the boutique. The girls got to prance around and show off their fancy outfits. Savannah like this part too. She thought it was so fun to be the line leader for all her friends.

Step nine: A picture with the shoes that the girls all brought (I'll post about this later). Then we said thank you and goodbye and sent each girl home with a crown and a wand of their own.

It really was a fun party! Savannah had so much fun and I loved getting to see her thoroughly enjoy herself and being with her friends on her birthday.
