Beach Day With Old Friends

This afternoon my brother, Savannah, and myself headed out to the beach to meet up with some high school friends. They were out there camping for the weekend so we figured it was the perfect time to head out to the Strand and crash with them for the day. Despite the fact that this nasty "June gloom" never burned off we still had a blast. We were all freezing, but we stuck it out and played in the sand and the water. Believe it or not, it was actually warmer in the water. Savannah loved playing out in the ocean. The last few times we have gone to the beach she has been too afraid to do anything besides stick her foot in. Now, she is fearless. She runs right out there and jumps over the breaks and dunks her head under the water. She told me that she liked how the ocean tasted... she kept licking her lips and saying that they tasted good.

The boys spent all day trying to convince Savannah to let them bury her. At first she was scared and said "no". After seeing us bury our friend Sylas she decided that she might like to get buried. Once we had her totally covered up she did not want to get out. She kept telling us that it was warm and cozy in the sand. She probably would have stayed buried a lot longer but the tide started to come up and touch the tip of her head. The minute that happened she was out of there.
