Accidents Happen

Potty training has been the most challenging Savannah transition to date. This totally trumps a year of nursing, putting her on a regular nap and bed time schedule, switching her to milk and real food, getting her to sleep in a big girl bed... basically all the previous stages prior to this one. I really did not think that this was going to be as exhausting as it has turned out to be. It is like house breaking a puppy, except when Savannah pees a puddle in the kitchen I can't rub her nose in it and swat her butt (not that I would do that!)... house breaking a toddler takes a lot of patience... and then some more patience. Everything I read about potty training stressed that you (the parent) need to remain calm and by no means get upset if they have an accident. The first couple times that Savannah had an accident it didn't even phase me. By the 5th or 6th time I had to stop and remind myself that she doesn't know any better... even though she was just sitting on the potty and didn't go pee but the second she got off the potty and pulled her panties up she peed a pool all over the floor. Deep breath. There have been a few good moments... Savannah had one full day (Tuesday) of successfully going in the potty. YAY! Since then she has only gone once in the potty. Hopefully there are a lot more days like Tuesday in our future!

The second I finished making this dress Savannah insisted on trying it on. Since I needed to see how it fit I let her. Bad choice... moments after this picture was taken she had an accident... all over this dress.
Love the hat, love the dress, love the pose, LOVE HER!

Keep up the good work baby!
