Her Own Spring Garden

A couple months back Savannah's papaw and grandma helped her get a spring garden planted.  Savannah had been asking for a long time to plant her own garden… it has been her favorite part of visiting the farm since she was little bitty, so it's only natural that she would eventually want one of her own (on a much smaller scale, of course).  We started small this spring and so far it has gone really well.  Savannah has done a lot better than I thought she was going to do… she waters them, checks them for bugs, sprays them with our homemade bug spray, rolls them from sun to shade… she is quite the nurturing little gardener.

We will eventually be up to our eyeballs in tomatoes.  There are little green ones everywhere.

A cucumber!!!!  Her first fully matured and ready to be picked and eaten veggie.  

She was so excited to pick her first very own vegetable.  She has this cucumber chilling in the fridge at the moment.  She said that she will be cutting it up and eating it for a snack after school tomorrow.

Bluebonnet Fail

This year's attempt at bluebonnet pictures was a pretty big fail. Major bummer. I love the bluebonnets, and with it being Ryder's first spring with them, I was even more excited than I normally am. The area I usually go to, which is always covered in bluebonnets was not so covered this year... plus we went on a weekend, so there were other families out there crowding up the field. Add to that the fact that it was crazy bright and Savannah has my eyes (super sensitive to light) so sunglasses had to be stuck on both kids. Ryder had no interest in sitting in the slightly damp grass. The list goes on and on. Despite all that working against me, I did manage to get a few pictures that I am happy with. Hopefully next year goes a lot smoother.

Our friends met us out there with their little girl, Bella. She was not all about the grass or sitting or having her picture taken either. The two of them together was hilarious... in fact, these ones of them screaming bloody murder are my favorites. I probably should have picked Ryder up and comforted him, but snapping pictures of this total meltdown was much more fun.
