Maker's Mark

On Monday we had some free time during the day, so we decided to drive out to the Maker's Mark distillery. Every time we have been out to KY Eric has wanted to go, but there has never been enough time. Well, lucky for Eric, things fell into place and there was just enough free time to make the two hour drive (one way) and tour the distillery. I kind of protested at first... for one, I don't drink whiskey, and secondly, we had both the kids with us. I wasn't sure that bringing the kids would be such a good idea. Turns out that kids are more than welcome, Savannah thought the bottling line was really cool, and I found the whiskey making process very interesting. It was a really good time... I would love to go back when the weather is nicer (it was pouring rain and ice cold while we were there) and when we can take our time and walk the grounds. The property that the distillery is on is beautiful. Next time we are in KY we will have to try to do it again.

Savannah watching the bottles getting labeled and dipped. She was really interested in every step.

Ryder on the other hand, had no idea what was going on behind him.

While our group was odd listening to the tour guide spout off fact after fact about whiskey, I snuck off and took pictures of my baby laying on top of whiskey barrels. He was so happy to finally be out of the stroller.

Disclaimer: Savannah is NOT drinking alcohol... that is WATER in her glass. After the tour the adults got to taste the whiskey. Savannah was dying of thirst and begging us for water. The tour guide heard her request and once everyone was done with the tasting she poured Savannah a glass of water and let her sit up at the bar and drink it. We found it funny that she sat there alone at the bar enjoying her water (that clearly looks like Maker's White Label) like it was the best thing ever. If that offends you, sorry.
