The Hot Shots Together Again

Saturday was the start of another Hot Shots soccer season. Up until now Savannah's team has been in the 3/4 age group... recently though, a lot of her teammates have started to turn 5. Which means that they should be moving up to the 5/6 age group. Savannah and a few other kids are still 4 though. So we were faced with two options... let her move up with the team that she loves so much or keep her in the 3/4 age group and place her on a new team. Savannah wanted nothing to do with a new team. She wanted to play with all her friends... especially her cousin Weaver. She said that soccer wouldn't be the same without him. So we stuck with the Hot Shots and moved up with the big kids. The big difference between the two age groups is that their coach no longer gets to go on the field with them during games. In the past the coach has always been out on the field to give direction and help the kids figure out what they should be doing. I think that all the parents were a little worried about how the kids would do without coach Nick running with them. Savannah and her team did great, considering this was their first time playing with the big kids. The team they played was really good and all the kids were just about two times as big as Savannah. it was crazy the skills that this other team had. Eric and I were both surprised with how well Savannah played. She is finally starting to slowly come out of her shell and get into the mix. She kicked the ball several times and didn't seem as afraid as she has been in the past. There was also no complaining... shocker. Typically when Savannah plays the whole game without a break she is quick to let us know how tired she is. All she wanted to tell us this time was how much fun she was having. Hopefully this means we have turned a page and this is going to be a good season.

Savannah getting to do a throw in... one of her favorite parts of soccer.
