Four Days At The Farm

Last Monday Savannah went down to the farm to stay with her Papaw and Grandma. She had been down there to stay the night by herself, but never for any longer than that. She wasn't even the least bit worried about being away from me. She could not wait to get down there. Thank goodness it all went well... because let me tell you, it was so nice to have an extended break like that. Especially in the middle of the week while Eric is gone too. I had the whole house to myself. I got a lot of cleaning and miscellaneous chores done that typically take forever to do when a 4 year old is constantly interrupting you. Plus, I got to watch nothing but adult t.v. and I took several long restful naps. It was a great 4 days. Savannah's grandma emailed me some pictures from the trip and typed up a little short story about there time together.

Written by Savannah's "farm grandma":
Feb. 7 - 10, 2011. Savannah came to the farm for a visit all by herself. We had so much fun! We made fish paintings for Didad's birthday and used stamps of a fish, cow, angel, sun, and leaf. Grandma had to work very hard to get yellow paint out of a stripped shirt. We planted daffodil and tulip bulbs, lettuce, collards, and beans. We had tea parties, watered all the plants, did dishes, baked brownies for Papaw, made real whipped cream, and ate our favorite cheese puffs and eggs. We played farm with all the little animals Papaw got Savannah for her birthday, built towers with blocks, and played bowling. We had one 4 wheeler ride, but it was too cold to do much outside except burning paper and getting better acquainted with Duke and Cocoa. We used big heavy binoculars to look outside. I the evening there was a sink bath with great toys, like cups, measuring cups, measuring spoons, and a big bowl (there's nothing like a water cake). At night Savannah got to sleep in her own personal tent bed with Mamaw Haynes' Christmas quilt. One night the fire went out and the tent was too cold so Savannah hopped into bed with Grandma and Papaw where it was toasty warm. On the last day we got to go to the Mayborn Museum. It was fantastic and will probably become a favorite activity on future lists of things we want to do. After the museum we had lunch at George's, the rolls and butter took top billing. Then on the way back to Hillsboro to meet her mother our little camper fell asleep. It was a fun four days and hopefully we can do it all again when it gets a little warmer outside.
